A true low point in history. May those who have memories of or family affected by this cowardly act know peace in their lives today.

We need to remember. Thank you.
The day that could have erased a culture.
Living here in South Korea, a stone’s throw from an angry neighbor who would love to see this country bombed into submission, I have often contemplated just what a nuclear warhead would do here. Korea is far smaller than Japan, and it would only take one or two to pretty much decimate the country. The fact that they test the air-raid sirens in my town once a month doesn’t exactly help my peace of mind.
I cannot imagine living in that type of tension. I always fear we’re one border incident away from a major conflagration.
It doesn’t help that the North Koreans are NUTJOBS. A few weeks ago, two days before Marc and I were scheduled to go to the DMZ (which was cancelled due to this incident), a South Korean tourist accidentally crossed the line without realizing it, and the North Koreans shot her. Their response? “It’s your fault, you should have been watching her better.”
This calls to mind the NRA’s favourite line, of “Guns don’t kill people, people kill people.”. Uh…I think the gun helps.
i can’t forgive every people,every escuse,for that job……..we hate war……..
This is so sad. my class and i are now studying this topic and i hope i dont cry. I hate seeing people like this, its horrible. =.(…….
