By your friends, we will know ye…

Dear Sean Hannity:

You should be more careful about the company you keep.

From the Southern Poverty Law Center’s Hatewatch  blog:

Best-selling Anti-Obama Fabulist Appears on White Supremicist Radio

Myth monger Jerome Corsi is at it again.

The author notorious for his book falsely vilifying 2004 presidential candidate John Kerry has penned an equally spurious attack on this year’s presumed Democratic nominee. The Obama Nation: Leftist Politics and the Cult of Personality, released on Aug. 1, has taken less than two weeks to clinch the number one spot on The New York Times bestseller list.  [Which by itself is a sad commentary on the state of literacy in this country...]

While the book’s popularity is beyond dispute, its content is not. The website Media Matters recently documented Corsi’s numerous untrue or misleading allegations.

That his book is rife with inaccuracies hasn’t stopped Corsi from promoting it on dozens of talk shows, where he has peddled additional falsehoods about Obama. On Fox News’ Hannity’s America, for instance, he made the ludicrous claim that Obama supports abortion “after a child’s born.”

Perhaps Corsi’s most telling appearance, however, has been on The Political Cesspool, an overtly racist, anti-Semitic radio show hosted by self-avowed white nationalist James Edwards. Corsi was interviewed on the Cesspool on July 20 and is scheduled to appear again this Sunday, August 17, joining a recent guest roster that has included Christian Identity pastor Pete Peters, Holocaust denier Mark Weber, and former Klan boss David Duke.

Along with promoting Corsi’s appearances, Edwards is boasting on his website that the three-hour weekly show will join the Republic Broadcasting Network in September. This conspiracy-minded network, heard via satellite and the web, features talk about a sinister “New World Order” and wild theories about the causes of 9/11. Shows that air on the network include The Piper Report, named after host Michael Collins Piper, who has contributed to the holocaust denial magazine The Barnes Review, and Mark Dankof’s America, which has interviewed Weber, director of the Institute for Historical Review, a leading Holocaust denial group.

I love the use of that word “fabulist,” don’t you?  Clever, that.

Note the lapel pins?  Both  of them?

Also note, and please beware: There’s a link there to The Political Cesspool’s web site.  Visit there with caution, and be sure to sanitize your cache, keyboard, hands, and frontal lobe after viewing.  It’s pretty awful stuff.

Questions:  Will anyone have the guts to mention this little chestnut to Sean Hannity (I emailed it to his producer).

After all, it’s Corsi’s unfettered, unchallenged access on Hannity’s two television programs and his radio show that’s responsible for the success of this tripe.   It’s got to be the only reason.  That, and the fact that this particular publishing imprint is run by Mary Matalin, and that thousands of copies of the book are reportedly being distributed – for free – to GOP types, which count as “sales.”

And, will anyone at Fake News have the guts to do the right thing, and cut this guy off?

I think we all know the answers…

BTW, the Obama campaign has a 41 page rebuttal to Corsi’s so-called “book” (with attribution and documentation and all that good stuff) available here.  Make a copy for your favorite “reader.”

  1. I don’t disagree with your comments on the book, which I haven’t seen. However, I recentlty came across a neat quotation from Paul Verlaine which would seem to contradict your heading: “Il ne faut jamais juger les gens sur leurs fréquentations. Tenez, Judas, par exemple, il avait des amis irréprochables.” (roughly – “You should never judge people by those with whom they associate. Take Judas, for example – he had friends who were above reproach.”)

  2. LOVE that! Gotta write that one down…

  3. By your friends, we will know ye….

Ayers, Wright, Rezko, Louis Farrakhan, Fr. Michael Pfleger, Rashid Khalid, Frank Marshall Davis, Bernadine Rae Dohrn, ACORN Community Org., Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick …..

    Ooops!

  4. Of course, you must realize I was speaking about Obama’s friends, above, right?

  5. Too much Hannity lately, there, Mary Ellen.

    As to Ayers and Dohrn:

“The couple turned themselves in to authorities in 1980. While some charges relating to their activities with the Weathermen were dropped due to prosecutorial misconduct (see COINTELPRO), Dohrn pled guilty to charges of aggravated battery and bail jumping, receiving probation. She later served less than a year of jail time, after refusing to testify against ex-Weatherman Susan Rosenberg in an armed robbery case. Shortly after turning themselves in, Dohrn and Ayers became legal guardians of the son of former members of the Weather Underground, Kathy Boudin and David Gilbert, after they were convicted of murder for their roles in a 1981 armored car robbery.”

I can use Wikipedia, too, just like McCain’s speech writers.

From what I hear, they’re both univeristy professors and have a decent standing in their community. They serve on a number of boards of foundations and do charitable work. They seem to have repented for their sins. Unless you want to believe sons of Joe McCarthy like David Horowitz. Which I don’t.

Farrakhan? There is no connection, other than the fact that he visited Obama’s church, and he received an award from them. Okay, well, I can’t really stand the man. I think he’s a roraring anti-Semite. But I also know that no matter what I think of him, he’s popular in the black community. I cannot judge them for that. Oh, that’s right: Obama also marched at the Million Man March. With 500,00 plus other black men. Guess they are all disqualified from ever holding office.

Kilpatrick? Another black politician. That’s THAT connection. I see it now.

Rezko? Name me another Chicago politician who ISN’T connected to this guy. And I’m sure John McCain never took any political favors, except for maybe that Keating Five thing. And the Clintons? Squeeky clean there, too. Sweetheart real estate deals may be sleazy, but they are a dime a dozen in big-time politics.

Frank Marshall Davis? Wow, Obama’s GRANDFATHER KNEW A COMMIE! Kids, my dad knew Communists, too. So did my Grandpop. Back in the day, if you were involved with organized labor, you knew some Communists and Wobbly types. We’re getting a bit Salem Witch Trials here with that stretch. I actually have read Obama’s first book. In it he says that Davis’s ideas may have influenced him. How AWFUL! I have read writings by Mother Jones, Eugene Debs, Joe Hill, and other labor leaders. I guess that means I’ve been “influenced” by “Communists,” too.

    Oh, well.

So Obama, the community organizer, was involved with ACORN. So what. For all their mistakes, and they are too many, ACORN has done some good work. They have in these parts. Again associating them with Obama to try to smear him is weak.

As to the pastors, this is the biggest joke, and I’ve already posted about that here, so I won’t repeat myself. These two are classic examples of preachers who let their mouths get ahead of their brains sometimes, which doesn’t mean that there isn’t some truth in some of what they’ve each said. Pfleger was an idiot for shooting his mouth off in Obama’s former church, and should have known his words would hurt the person he thought he was helping.

Do you really want to talk about John McCain’s “spiritual advisors” by comparison?

I think you’re missing the point here.

Jerome Corsi is a fraud. He’s a liar, and he’s getting rich from his lies. Period. He needs to be exposed as such, and it isn’t happening. He is also a hateful person who associates with known hate groups, like the people who run this radio station. Passing him off as a legitimate journalist and scholar is like calling David Duke a legitimate humanitarian.

John McCain hobnobs with war criminals and supports a murderous foreign policy that’s gotten 4,000 plus young Americans killed, 30,000 wounded, and God only knows how many Iraqis murdered.

That means something more to me than innuendo and fraud.

  6. Quaker Dave- Bringing up McCain has no bearing on this, I never said I was supporting McCain, I was pointing out Obama’s friends, that’s all.

Regarding Kilpatrick- are you telling me that the fact that he is black is the only connection between him and OBama? In reality, OBama had planned on having him speak at the convention, until he was indicted and convicted of fraud, that is. But never to worry, he made sure that the judge would “modify” his bond to allow him to go. Not to worry, though…under the bus Kilpatrick went, just like his “uncle” Reverend Wright…now Obama is afraid that Kilpatrick with be a “distraction” if he is seen at his inauguration.

The rest of the stuff.. it seems kind of interesting to me that you are so willing to shove under the carpet the associations that Obama seems to have with so many corrupt people. I guess it’s ok if you hang out with a terrorist, as long as he only tried to build bombs and hurt people years ago. Time heals all wounds? If I recall, he said after or on 9/11 that he didn’t regret what he did and wished he had done more. Hmmm….there’s a man with great moral fortitude!

Farrakhan has no connection to Obama? I think you should do a little more research. I know it’s difficult to face up to the facts and it’s easier to just buy into the Obama propaganda, but an informed voter is a good voter.

And hey…if Obama wants to call a guy who makes sermons about how Jesus was killed because he “looked different” than the garlic nosed Italians, what can I say? You should look a little more carefully into the black-liberation theology that Obama had practiced and listened to for over 20 years. And if you think the “community organization” stuff that Obama was involved with in Chicago was on the up and up, you should study Chicago dirty politics a little more. Just like in Chicago, ACORN likes to register dead people to vote. Obama is all about change, alright…he’s planning on making dirty Chicago politics National.

Like you said in your post title, By Your Friends We Will Know Ye…” And Obama has some pretty slimy friends, some who are convicted frauds.

    Look at the facts.

Oh…and I don’t get my information from Sean Hannity, I never watch his show or listen to him on the radio. In my last blog, I wrote all about Obama and his slimy Chicago politics well before Hannity ever started talking about it. I live in Illinois, grew up in Chicago, and am very informed on his past record and his dirty dealings. Oh..and I’ve voted straight Democrat for over 35 years, so I’m not a Republican in any way, shape, or form. But this election…Obama will not get my vote, and this is a decision the day I heard him announce his candidacy. We’ve already had eight years of a President who was a liar, slacker, corrupt, and inept, I don’t need another four years of that with an Obama Presidency.

Oh…and if you want to compare, Obama is more like Bush than you know. Some may call McCain, “McSame”…Obama can also be called “Obush”. Same shape, different color.

  7. It got stuck in the spam catcher, don’t ask me why. I saved it.

And we’ll agree to disagree, passionately.

  8. Quaker Dave…

Aha! A spam filter conspiracy! I knew Obama would resort to dirty tricks! ;-)

I’m all for passion, even if it’s passionate disagreement! Have a great weekend, kiddo!

  9. As far as the book being on the top of the NYTimes best seller list, I’m sure a few rich GOP types have bought loads of the books to raise its ratings. They will then pass them out for free at various GOP events. Meanwhile, the book gets press, cuz it’s on the top of the list.

You know that they have lots of $$ to spread slime, since they don’t spend a dime for charity.

  10. And you also, Mary Ellen.

  11. I’m against abortions after birth. They’re totally ineffective.

  12. That’s this week theme in bashing Obama. They’re trotting out a “nurse” from one of the big “right-to-life” groups (no bias there) who testified in favor of some anti-choice bill in Illinois years ago, and she talks about Obama’s indifference on the bill and how he voted against it.

Obama is luke-warm on choice as it is. This is another weak claim.

  13. “As far as the book being on the top of the NYTimes best seller list, I’m sure a few rich GOP types have bought loads of the books to raise its ratings. They will then pass them out for free at various GOP events. Meanwhile, the book gets press, cuz it’s on the top of the list.”

This is 100% correct. I used to work in management for one of the larger book store chains, and these types of books were not big sellers among the average Joe reader.
