Sir:
Last night, during your angry rant speech at the Republican National Convention, you mentioned the “eastern elites” whom you seem to think “control” the so-called “Liberal Media Establishment” in this country.
All that nonsense about media bias aside (in case you forgot, that’s the same Bootlicking Corporate Media that gave your friend George Bush a free pass for the better part of two terms), I know you think that phrase was a slab of red meat for your audience (half of whom would never, ever think of voting for you because you are a member of a minority religion which most of them find strange and scary), but some of us out here do speak Pat Buchannan, sir.
Some of us know exactly what and who you meant when you used that phrase.
This is an especially ugly old code phrase, and as a member of a religious organization which itself has been attacked repeatedly over the years by the mongers of fear and bigotry, you above most of the folks in that room last night should have been more sensitive to the types of hot-button words you chose to use.
Sadly, it seems your desire to rabble-rouse and stem-wind superseded your sensitivities.
And your sense of decency. Like some other folks in your party.
That’s a shame.
Unless, of course, you are totally clueless. Which would make this even worse.
In future, here’s hoping you watch your language.
Sincerely,
QuakerDave
(PS: Do not mistake this post as an indication that I have decided to break with my decision not to post about the 2008 campaign any longer. This is about a side issue that has specifically to do with the abuse of language and human beings moreso than politics.)

It is one of those issues that fries my brain. The media is owned lock stock and barrel by corporate america, yet they actually get people to believe that it is liberal!!!! It just goes to show you that repeating the big lie again and again works, sad to say.
That Romney spoke at all is a testament to his desire to be the candidate next time. they say he was rather pissed at old John. But of course, nothing gets in the way of self-promotion does it?
The Latter Day Saints own the Salt Lake papers (and most of the others in the state), so I guess that means that Mittens is a liberal elitist by association.
At least if works for me.
If you use GOP/Faux News/Hannity/Romney logic, yeah.
You just say that because you’re elitist
Yeah, that’s me.
An elitist school teacher from New Joisey.
